Viewing vs downloading: Adobe Acrobat Viewer installs a
browser plug-in for Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Internet Explorer that
allows you to view Acrobat (PDF) documents in the browser window. If you have
this Acrobat plug-in installed, your browser may be configured to view PDF
files instead of downloading them. While this can be a nice feature, it can
also give the impression that the download request didn't work. When the
browser opens a large file in view mode, your screen may go blank for several
minutes while the file is cached for viewing. If you are expecting to see a
'File Save' dialog and instead get a blank browser window, it will appear that
the download request failed. You can over-ride this file viewing feature and
force your browser to download as follows:
Navigator - Hold down the shift key while clicking on the link.
Explorer - Right click the link, then select 'Save Target As' from
the popup menu.
